Weight cannot be checked with help of radio isotope gun

Isotope gun gives percentage full of the bottle capacity or how full the bottle is.

It is understood that if bottles is 90% full or 95% full then there is no need of doing any weight checks.

For checking you have separate tools(beam scale assembly) for ship staff to check or shore people will come and do it.

Loosen out the clamp block securing the cylinder.

Arrange beam scale in position hooking the cylinder with york of beam scale.

One time, pull down the beam scale and hook up the cylinder completely from the seat and put it to original position. Then the cylinder will be free from any surface contacts.

Now slowly pull down the beam scale to 90 degree against hook and the bottle will be lifted from the seat just a few mm and read the scale.

NOTE: Recharge the cylinder if there is 10% reduction in weight.
+/- 5 degree of beam angle is allowed for measuring the cylinder.

The valve is normally fitted to the end of a branch connection with the main sea water suction line. This enables large main seawater cooling pumps to be used as a bilge pump in an emergency.
